The DJ who butted former Prime Minister Tony Abbott in a random attack will spend at least two months behind bars.

Astro Labe, 38, was sentenced to six months in prison on Monday by Hobart Magistrates’ Court, but may be released after two months, ABC News reported.

He pleaded guilty to the attack on Mr Abbott which took place on the Hobart waterfront in September 2017.

He was wearing a “Yes” sticker when he met Mr Abbott, but said the attack was unrelated to the gay marriage investigation.

Labe will also have to pay $ 2,000 for the header.

In January, Labe pleaded guilty to causing harm to a Commonwealth public official.
