Dario Fo, this demonic playwright, based on real events that occurred in Italy in times of tension, wrote a farce masterpiece, caustic and accusatory satire, on violence, stupidity, arbitrariness of the power, fabricated and deliberate lies “blind” Justice, servant of a system of corruption.
Through clever, contemporary comedy, power is exposed and the âsteadfastâ elements that are used to incriminate someone are presented.
An open window on the sixth floor can be a solution when composure is lost and death will be archived simply as “accidental”!
Dario Fo manages to discover through his work, the murder of the “anarchist railroad” Giuseppe Pinelli, committed by the Italian police.
It satirically and ironically denounces the tragic event, scolds the abuse of power and although it was written years ago to criticize the unfair power of the Italian justice system and the corruption of the government, today, years later, the viewer will find it easy to find many – too many – similarities to today’s Greece.
Dario Fo says:
âThe play has been performed since the time it was written with unabated success. who do not lower their heads “.
In the play, the work, the plot and the author’s subversive gaze are the basis for humorously commenting on our reality, following Dario Fo’s point of view:
“I do not consider my project to be complete, but open to constant differentiation. Even today, anyone who downloads my texts in any part of the world should know that it is a fluid material, capable of adapt it and shape it to the measures of its own reality and the recovery of references that will make the square theater to get angry, to think, to laugh â.
On the occasion of Dario Fo’s play, the performance at the Gloria Theater follows in the footsteps of an archetypal jester.
A timeless, funny and dangerous demonic figure
for every power and every stereotype.
We start from his birth, his travels in space and time to end in the here and now.
I’m a moment, an occasion for a crack
with price, without price
I am all – free.
I have strange appetites
with sharp words
I cut the wings
to liars and crooks.
In other words, I make them blades
cut the palms
of those who steal matches
that lies in the eyes
to those who laugh to deceive.
No, I’m not thirsty for blood
I want to shed light on the lie
to those who live in darkness
to those who have killed with caresses
I breathed but I didn’t hold it back
Look how I run
I never stopped
I found the perfect opportunity
to tell this story:
“The accidental death of an anarchist”
And all this in a show with demonic energy songs, live music and caustic humor by a group of actors who play, dance, sing, pretending to be theirs today through the history of the project.
