AMERICAN FOREIGN POLICY via. THE CIA.

If anybody out there thinks that it is Clinton/Bush/Obama that is the problem, then perhaps this little list, which is in no way complete, might help to make the point that it is the system of state/corporate capitalism/imperialism, and not the figurehead at the top that is the real problem.

Excerpts courtesy of   CIA timeline.   by Steve Kangas

1953: Iran; CIA overthrows the democratically elected Mohammed Mossadegh in a military coup, after he threatened to nationalize British oil.

1954: Guatemala; CIA overthrows the democratically elected Jacob Arbenz in a military coup.

1957-1973: Laos; The CIA carries out approximately one coup per year trying to nullify Laos’ democratic elections.

1959: Haiti; The U.S. military helps “Papa Doc” Duvalier become dictator of Haiti. He creates his own private police force, the “Tonton Macoutes,” who terrorize the population with machetes.

Ecuador; The CIA-backed military forces the democratically elected President Jose Velasco to resign

Congo (Zaire); The CIA assassinates the democratically elected Patrice Lumumba

1963: Dominican Republic; The CIA overthrows the democratically elected Juan Bosch in a military coup

1964: Brazil; A CIA-backed military coup overthrows the democratically elected government of Joao Goulart. The junta that replaces it will, in the next two decades, become one of the most bloodthirsty in history.

1965: Indonesia; The CIA overthrows the democratically elected Sukarno with a military coup.

Congo (Zaire); A CIA-backed military coup installs Mobutu Sese Seko as dictator.

1967: Greece; A CIA-backed military coup overthrows the government two days before the elections.

Bolivia; A CIA-organized military operation captures legendary guerilla Che Guevara.

1969: Uruguay; The notorious CIA torturer Dan Mitrione arrives in Uruguay, a country torn with political strife. Whereas right-wing forces previously used torture only as a last resort, Mitrione convinces them to use it as a routine, widespread practice.

1973: Chile; The CIA overthrows and assassinates Salvador Allende. The CIA replaces Allende with General Augusto Pinochet, who will torture and murder thousands of his own countrymen in a crackdown on labor leaders and the political left.

1981: Iran/Contra Begins; The CIA begins selling arms to Iran at high prices, using the profits to arm the Contras fighting the Sandinista government in Nicaragua

1983: Honduras; The CIA gives Honduran military officers the Human Resource Exploitation Training Manual, which teaches how to torture people.

1989: Panama; The U.S. invades Panama to overthrow a dictator of its own making, General Manuel Noriega.

Like I said, this list is in no way complete, but there is enough there to surely convince you that changing the smiling face that sits on the throne of corporate capitalism isn’t going to make one bleeding bit of difference to the endless slaughter that goes on to protect the bank balances of the rich parasites that own the corporate world. It will require the destruction of corporate capitalism and the creating a system based on mutual aid and sustainability that will see to the needs of all our people, before we see an end to the slaughter for profits.

THE CORPORATE SOCIETY.

As I keep saying, the millionaire Osborne's planned cuts are all about transferring public assets to private hands, the deficit is just the excuse they needed. Let's look at one department, the Department for Environment, Food and Rural Affairs. This department looks after a considerable amount of public assets and has a budget of £2.9 billion. It has to find savings of 25%, this of course will come with the usual lay-offs and pay freezes. It has also been mentioned that they will be selling off some of Britain's nature reserves, privatising parts of the Forestry Commission and stopping grants to British Waterways which looks after miles of canals and rivers. Think of all that wealth of rich land being sold to the friends of the millionaire trio, Cameron, Osborne and Clegg. No doubt, after the grants stop, the British Waterways will find it rather difficult to continue looking after all those acres of land that line those canals and rivers and will have to hold a wee fire sale to let the millionaire's club get their sweaty hands on that public asset of prime real estate.
While we sit and listen to their phony ceremonies about all having to tighten our belts, they are busy stuffing their coffers with everything in sight. Every public asset will be transferred to private hands, the millionaires are having a field day at our expense, they have never had it so good. A team of their millionaire friends are in the driving seat and they know where they are going, straight to the bank with all our belongings.
Unless there is an organised and forceful defence launched soon we will have nothing left to defend. You are looking at a corporate society where the public own nothing, no public libraries, no public parks, no public walkways along the canals and rivers, no public baths, no public parks and sports facilities. Everything will be corporate owned and you will have to pay through the nose for the simplest of activities, after all, profit is the name of the game they play. This is happening now, it is happening under our noses and will continue until it is all gone. It is easier to fight to hold what you have rather than fight to try to get it back.
As long as we tolerate this millionaire run system of winner takes all and to hell with the hindmost we will have to continually fight to try to have a decent standard of living. We don't need them, they do need us to maintain their pampered parasitical lifestyle.

S11 + 10

The term ‘September 11′ is now forever associated with the terrorist attacks upon New York and Washington in 2001; in 2000, however, ‘S11′ was the name given to ‘three days of protest + carnival’ against the Asia-Pacific Economic Summit of the World Economic Forum, held at Crown Casino in Melbourne. (For others, ‘September 11′ will be remembered for other reasons.) EngageMedia is gonna throw up video in the weeks and months ahead, but you can also watch S11: This is What Democracy Looks Like (Actively Radical TV) online and the remnants of the S11-AWOL (Autonomous Web of Liberation) site may be found here. s11.org is archived at the NLA here.

S11 done got written about quite a bit at the time (including by myself, in a fairly cringe-worthy manner), and I’ll probably throw up moar links in future, but in the meantime it’s worth noting that it was only seven years later that Slater & Gordon (& Co.) were able to secure a fat payout for themselves — and as long as law-talking guys are happy, who could ask for anything moar? Well, apart from a whitewash, of course.

THE “BIG LIE”!!!

Millionaire Cameron is always mouthing off about the “Big Society” it is his buzz word, but we all know that it is just a load of vacuous crap in an attempt to fool everybody into thinking that cuts to social spending will make everything just lovely for everybody. His deluded vision is one of everybody working as an entrepreneur, making lots of money and having lots of time to devote to charity work in the community, helping the poor. Of course in his illusionary society there will be no poor as we will all be working away furiously making pots of money.

In his imaginary world of the “Big Society” we are all supposed to come together and do more voluntary work in the community, at the same time as his millionaire buddy, Osborne, has set in motion at least a 6% cut in funding for voluntary projects, The funding for voluntary projects is set to loose £734 million. So there you have the millionaire twins plan for the “Big Society”, cut the funds for voluntary projects by 6% and encourage more people to set up lots more voluntary organisations.

Lies and lies and more lies followed by damn lies, as they decimate our living standards to feed the bond markets and their millionaire chums. I’m no lover of the right wing labour bunch but a quote from Tessa Jowell, the shadow Cabinet Office minister, points in the direction of anarchist principles, “What people want is not the vacuous promise of a big society but a good society where everybody does their bit and is helped to do so to improve their community and create benefits for everyone. But a big society that cuts people loose, leaving them to stand on their own, will never work.” Come on Tessa, take the next step, a society based on mutual aid, not profit. People can run their own communities without having to carry a bunch of over privileged pampered parasites on our back. We can organise our communities to see to the needs of all our people without paying for the corporate world to pollute and plunder our planet. We don’t need you baby, you and your type and the problem, not the answer.

EXPECTING FAVOURS FROM MILLIONAIRES!!!

The Institute of Fiscal Studies (IFS) has stated that the coalition government's first Budget has hit the poorest families hardest. It also stated that the measures announced in the Budget were regressive. According to their analysis this Budget will see the low income families with children lose most as a percentage of net income. Their report also suggests that cuts to housing benefit and disability allowance would see the poorest families lose approximately £422 between the Budget and April 2014. Two other statements are “Low-income households of working age lose most as a percentage of income from tax and benefit reforms announced in the Budget.” and “Those who lose least are households of working age without children in the upper half of income distribution.” The report went on to conclude, “once all of the benefit cuts are considered, the tax and benefit changes announced in the the emergency Budget are clearly regressive as, on average, they hit the poorest households more than those in the upper middle of income distribution in cash, let alone percentage terms.” This from an institution that can hardly be called left wing.
Now is there anybody out there who believed this bunch of over privileged parasite millionaires would do it different? The Chancellor is a millionaire from a privileged background, 23 of his colleagues in the cabinet are also millionaires. They have no idea of what it is like to be poor, the don't even accept the idea that this system creates poverty. With their value structure, if your poor it is because you are not trying enough, it's your fault. So why spend money on those who just won't get up and get rich. They are under the illusion that they are rich because the worked very hard. So, if you work very hard, you could be a millionaire. From their privileged pampered background social services and benefits just make you lazy. They have no idea of the reality of the working class in this system of exploitation.
We can never expect them to create a system to benefit all the working class, everything they do will be to the benefit of the corporate world, their world. If we want a better world for all the people in society we will have to do it ourselves. Only the working class can create a society that is fair and just to all and we can only do that if we take control of our lives and control of society and all that it entails. We must organise to take control of our communities and our work places, shaping them to see to the needs of all our people. Who needs a bunch of useless, pampered, privileged parasites to organise our world?

The Anti-Politics of Identity Politics

Identity politics, born out primarily by the group APOC (Anarchist People of Color, Illvox) to discuss race within the context of the anarchist movement, has been a major part of anarchist discourse since around 2002. Beyond this narrow understanding of identity in terms of the language of “political correctness” is an effective strategy. The strategy [...]

INTERNATIONAL ANARCHIST MOVEMENT POLAND:
MORE ON THE RESTAURANT DISPUTE IN WARSAW:
The dispute at the Azteca restaurant in Warsaw Poland ( as reported the other day at this blog ) continues as do the pickets of the Polish anarchosyndicalist ZSP. Here from their website is the latest on their continuing actions.
@@@@@@@@@@

Warsaw: Pickets at Azteca Bar Continue
Pickets at Azteca Bar in Warsaw are continuing. After failure to make any progress with the boss on Friday / Saturday, ZSP decided to picket the establishment every day at lunch and dinner hours. The protests are related to illegal deductions taken from the pay of our dismissed comrade, attempts to make people work illegally, without any contract and unpaid trial periods, with 'training' that the boss wants to charge workers for if they do not work a certain period of time.

During the first picket on Monday, the boss of the bar became very aggressive towards the leafleters and started making many threats. According to him, handing out leaflets should end in 'criminal charges" and he threatened to sue us for losses his business has incurred due to our pickets. He made a great scene, shouting at and filming the protestors and calling the police. Neighbours and passersby then got involved in the argument. Most people tell him he should pay the money.

In the evening the protestors consisted of more senior citizens and the boss became more subdued and only shouted at the younger people. Again the police and city guards were called and again the boss was told that we have the right to picket him. We promised that we would return tomorrow, he could be assured.

Although we presented our demands clearly enough, the boss now asked us for an official letter, which we will present him tomorrow. What we will demand is:

- payment of all money due to our comrade (he does not want to be reinstated, and after meeting the boss, we don't blame him)
- no more attempts to charge workers for "training" and no unpaid trial periods
- legal hiring and working conditions
- no more illegal deductions from pay
- full-time contracts for employees that want

The pickets have created a lot of discussion in the neighbourhood and has been on the news. After the first picket already other restaurant workers contacted us and are considering a campaign.
